My conversation stuck at stop button, can't continue, please help?!

Please kindly advise what do I do now. Pressing stop button actually sends a message to ChatGPT instead of stopping it from generating. But it stopped replying to me completely. I logged out and back in multiple times, cleared cache, etc, to no avail.

Found this post researching the same issue. Multiple chats completely bricked in the same way. Nothing seems to get rid of the stop button and allow it to proceed. Tried restarting browser, logging out and in, incognito window, etc. Nothing.

That issue resolved either by itself or because I contacted the priority support and provided them with all the info, not sure. But anyhow, something even more outrageous just happened. All of a sudden, the arrow button for sending messages got greyed out and received “disabled” attribute, which I figured from the developer console in my browser. I then logged out to test if it fixes itself after logging back in, but now even my login button is not responding (just as Enter) and also has “disabled” attribute in the html. What the…?

This sounds crazy but I switched to dark mode on my browser on my PC and it fixed this issue immediately.

if someone is having this issue i fix it by using the mobile app, sent a random prompt, let it respond and then refresh the webpage!

hope it helps

If you edit your last message and resend it, it should hopefully fix that problem. I made the mistake of editing my very first message and my entire conversation disappeared. ha.

Thank you, this helped. I edited my last post and then hit on Send, then refresh the page and wala!

This is the only solution when refresh doesn’t work. A hack, but an effective one!

You can access the first thread if you just go back to the first version underneath the message.

It worked out for me. Thanks

worked perfectly got it unstuck.

Thank you that worked perfectly

I tried navigating to the first thread of my conversation and able to proceed from that. However, the other two threads are still stuck. Time to switch to projects.

Write a new prompt in your mobile version. That will fix it

this worked for me, thank you

Worked perfectly. Saved hours. Even chatGpt don’t know how to solve!

Hell yeah, brother! I had a pretty long conversation about some market analysis and was sweating bullets trying to think of a way to get another chat up to speed. This saved me!
