Hi! I’ve received a message from OpenAI yesterday:
Organization org-enOzezA8gjIeiqB6eZ6XWfWK’s use of our services has resulted in a high volume of requests that violate our Usage Policies, specifically related to:
Exploitation, harm, or sexualization of children
As a result of these violations, and inaction to reduce after a previous warning, we are suspending access to the API immediately for this organization.
If you have questions or think there has been an error, you can reply to this email to initiate an appeal.
Best,
The OpenAI team
The funny thing is that I’ve not been using the API for a while myself. I’ve shared my API key with a few people some time ago and forgot about that . Suppose someone has used my API key for own needs. The strange thing is that not only the API services been suspended for me, but the regular ChatGPT where I have a Plus subscription stopped working too. It just doesn’t load my conversations or even the account interface.
I’ve sent a reply to the OpenAI notification email asking them to clean up my API keys and unblock me. But there has been no response yet. I’m curious what I should do because I need GPT asap as the data stored in the chats. Will I receive a response within a few days, or should I just register a new account?
I am facing the same issue not sure why I am being terminated for the above.
I used the key in some of the apps I built and shared with few people.
Did you get any update and how else can we contact them?
Yes. I’ve reached out to live support on https://help.openai.com/en/ in the chat, which opens from the button in the bottom right corner. I entered the “leave feedback” option where I’ve been able to write and send messages to the OpenAI myself. After a few days, they wrote back:
We have completed a thorough review of your appeal and have decided to uphold our decision to terminate your OpenAI access to ensure the security and integrity of our platform. …
So all my data is lost. I’ve created a new account
I have the same problem. I use ChatGPT Pro only for coding and development, so there’s absolutely no way I could’ve violated their usage policies, let alone related to “exploitation, harm, or sexualization of children”. The only thing I can think of is maybe there’s a trigger word they scan for.
EDIT: I replied to the email, and they reinstated my account, but unfortunately, they didn’t give me a reason why it was banned. Even though it was in error, I’ve added Moderation Endpoints to all ChatGPT queries, hoping to stop this from happening again.
