Model o3-mini is not available

Hi, I cannot find o3-mini in the list of available models. My organization is verified.

When I click on the docs, Try in playground for o3-mini, I get the following message:

The model “o3-mini” is not available.
The link you opened specified a model that isn’t available for your org. We’re using the default model instead

I can reproduce the error also going at this link:
https://platform.openai.com/playground/prompts?models=o3-mini

May you help me understanding why or how to get access to it ?

Best, Angelo

OpenAI had some unknown criteria for who would get access to o3-mini.

https://help.openai.com/en/articles/10362446-api-access-to-o1-o3-and-o4-models

They’ve changed the language from “select developers” to “exceptions apply”.

There’s no official mechanism for getting the model or knowing why it was not provisioned for you.

Sadly they replaced o3-mini/o3-mini-high with o4-mini/o4-mini-high. Which is a shame because the previous models were way better reasoning models with less hallucinations.

Is there any way to contact support and ask for clarifications ?

You can choose “help” in the platform site, choose “message”, and send a message stating your desire to have this model provisioned on your organization.

You can report back your success, as nobody else has reported any success in overcoming the hidden prohibitions some organizations have on some models, based on a trust system of some sort.
