ChatGPT Business Migration Lost Recent Memory, Pinned Chats, Scheduled Tasks and Chat Ordering
I recently upgraded from a Personal ChatGPT workspace to a Business workspace and selected the option to migrate all of my data.
Overall, the migration partially succeeded:
Successfully migrated
- Historical conversations
- Projects
- Files attached inside conversations
However, several parts of the migration appear to be incomplete or inconsistent.
1. Saved Memory appears to be an old snapshot
The Business workspace contains saved memories, but they clearly represent an older state of my account rather than the state immediately before migration.
Example:
The saved memories still reference an older business that I had transitioned away from months before the migration.
None of the more recent memories accumulated over many months are present.
This is not simply the Memory Summary.
The actual Settings → Personalization → Memory → Manage list itself appears to be missing many newer saved memories.
2. Chat ordering
The migrated chats are present but remain out of order.
Several days after migration they are still mixed together rather than appearing in the expected order based on recent activity/history.
3. Pinned chats
All of the previously pinned chats migrated successfully.
However they are no longer pinned.
I can still locate them using Search.
4. Pinned projects
Projects migrated successfully.
However previously pinned projects are no longer pinned.
5. Scheduled Tasks
None of my Scheduled Tasks migrated.
6. Storage / Library
Workspace Storage shows 0 files.
However, uploaded documents still exist inside the historical conversations.
Additional Information
- Personal workspace no longer exists after migration.
- Business workspace has been active for several days.
- I have logged out/in multiple times.
- Browser cache cleared.
- Verified correct workspace.
- Search works correctly.
- Chats themselves are intact.
OpenAI Support advised that conversations and memories are expected to migrate, but they were unable to determine whether my migration completed correctly or whether backend migration logs could be reviewed.
Questions
- Has anyone else experienced:
- incomplete Memory migration
- incorrect chat ordering
- loss of pinned chats
- loss of pinned projects
- missing Scheduled Tasks
- empty Storage after Personal → Business migration?
- Are these known migration issues?
- Has anyone from OpenAI Engineering been able to correct chat ordering or recover missing migration state?
This migration involved approximately a year of accumulated business knowledge and organizational context, so I’m trying to determine whether these behaviors are expected or indicative of a migration defect.
