Chat History Lost After Upgrading from ChatGPT Plus to Business

I’m posting here to see if anyone has experienced something similar or found a solution.

A few days ago, I upgraded my account from ChatGPT Plus to ChatGPT Business and merged my personal workspace as part of the process.

Immediately after the migration, a large portion of my chat history disappeared. The missing conversations cover several months of work, including active software development projects that I was actively working on at the time of the upgrade.

What I’ve already done:

  • Logged out and back in.
  • Waited more than 5 days.
  • Contacted OpenAI Support.
  • Followed all recommended troubleshooting steps.

Some older conversations eventually reappeared, but a significant number of newer conversations are still missing.

Support informed me that, in rare cases, some conversations may fail to migrate and may not be recoverable. However, I have not been able to obtain a clear answer about whether my data was actually lost during migration or whether there is any way to verify the migration status.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone else lost chat history after migrating from Plus to Business?
  2. Did your missing conversations eventually return?
  3. Were you able to get your case escalated to someone who could investigate the migration in detail?
  4. Is there any known recovery process for chats that failed to migrate?

This issue has effectively blocked several ongoing projects, so any information or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
