Make macOS Codex show again the Codex mobile popup

Hello,

If one accidentally close the Codex mobile popup on the Mac app, what do they have to do to show it again?

I’m trying to use Codex mobile and couldn’t figure out how to do that.

I’d try these steps if you haven’t already:

  1. In the Codex desktop app on Mac, first click the blue Update button in the left sidebar if it appears.

  2. After updating, the Introducing Codex mobile popup should appear.

  3. Click Get started there.

  4. After that, Codex mobile should appear in the left sidebar.

  5. Click Codex mobile, then click Get started again on the setup screen.

That should reopen the Mac-side mobile setup flow and let you continue pairing from the ChatGPT mobile app.

In that case I suggest that you:

  1. Make sure the Codex desktop app on Mac is updated to the latest version.

  2. Open the ChatGPT mobile app on your phone.

  3. In the mobile app sidebar, look for Codex.

  4. Tap Codex.

  5. If it shows something like waiting for the desktop, keep the Codex desktop app open on the Mac.

  6. On the Mac, the Connect your phone to this Mac setup screen should appear or Codex mobile should become available in the left sidebar.

  7. If Codex mobile appears in the Mac sidebar, click it and continue the setup from there.

If that does not bring the setup flow back, then I’d try restarting the Codex desktop app, signing out/in or reinstalling/updating as a fallback.

Since you already tried the desktop-side steps, I’d next try updating the ChatGPT mobile app, then signing out and back in on mobile.

If it still does not show the setup/connection flow after that, this may be a stuck pairing state rather than a normal setup issue.

In that case, it may be worth reporting to Support or adding details to the existing OpenAI/codex GitHub issue if there is a matching one. If there isn’t, opening a new issue there may help.

I’m from France btw, maybe Codex Mobile is not yet available in France?

It was noted as rolling out , which in OpenAI-speak usually means it is enabled for groups of accounts over time, not flipped on for everyone at the same moment.

OpenAI says Codex in the ChatGPT mobile app is rolling out in preview on iOS and Android across supported regions. Usually, though not always, OpenAI will announce when a rollout is complete. If it is still missing after that, then it may be something support needs to investigate for that specific account or setup.
