Codex Mobile Bridge account mismatch issue

I can’t connect to Codex Mobile because of a strange account-related issue, and I hope a fix will be provided.

The issue is this: I originally created my Google account using an email address with a @hotmail domain. Later, Google allowed me to change that @hotmail account to a @gmail address.

So far, everything seems fine. But here is the actual problem: on ChatGPT Mobile, my account appears with the @hotmail address, while the account I’m signed into on Codex shows the @gmail address.

Because of this, even when I select the “I signed in on desktop” option in ChatGPT Mobile, the desktop app does not respond. There seems to be an account-matching issue.

I hope the team can provide a solution for this.

Hi,

The docs say mobile setup requires the Codex App on a Mac host, signed into the same ChatGPT account and workspace as the phone. They also say the setup flow is not available from the Codex CLI or IDE extension.

So I would first double-check (if you already haven’t) that:

  • you are using the macOS Codex App as the host
  • the Mac host is awake/online and running Codex
  • ChatGPT Mobile is updated
  • both the phone and host are signed into the same ChatGPT account and workspace
  • any required MFA/SSO/passkey step is completed
  • if this is a workspace account, Remote Control access is enabled

If all of that is correct and ChatGPT Mobile still shows the hotmail address while Codex shows the gmail address, then it sounds like Support may need to check the account/workspace mapping directly.

The only point I missed was realizing that this currently works only with the macOS app, which is actually a pretty big mistake on my part. I should read and research a bit more before opening a topic.

I hope they add support for the Windows app soon. This was exactly what I needed, and even though it technically exists now, we still can’t use it.

I don’t know if you checked this announcement topic yet:

Hopefully not that long of a wait, according to the announcement :slightly_smiling_face:
