I posted it above, but the latest email reply from support still says they cannot bypass or update the phone number and recommends creating a new account.
This appears to be the same Codex-specific issue you confirmed earlier: normal account authentication succeeds, then Codex Desktop still asks for an old inaccessible phone number.

If you’re still blocked, please continue working with Support in your existing case. Some remaining reports may have a different cause, so the support team will review them case by case. If you don’t have a case yet, please contact Support and include the exact time and time zone of one fresh sign-in attempt, plus the screen or error you see.
