Hello OpenAI Team,
I would like to suggest a simple personalization feature for ChatGPT Voice Mode: allow users to place a chosen image of their ChatGPT persona inside the existing animated voice orb.
The Current Experience
Voice Mode is responsive, expressive, and easy to use, but visually the conversation is represented only by the animated orb.
For users who give their ChatGPT assistant a name, personality, or visual identity, it would be meaningful to have that familiar image connected to the voice experience.
Proposed Feature
Keep the current Voice Mode orb exactly as it is, but give users the option to add a custom image inside it.
The image could be:
- Uploaded by the user
- Chosen from a small selection of preset persona images
- Created with ChatGPT image generation
The selected image could remain associated with that user’s Voice Mode sessions so the assistant has a consistent and recognizable visual identity.
Users who prefer the existing orb could simply leave the feature turned off.
Why This Matters
This would be a relatively simple way to make Voice Mode feel more personal and familiar without changing how the voice system itself works.
Even a static image inside the existing orb could make a significant difference during longer conversations, brainstorming sessions, language practice, creative work, or everyday voice interactions.
It would give users a sense of visual continuity while still making it clear that they are interacting with AI.
A more animated avatar system could always be explored in the future, but even this simple first step would add a great deal of personalization. - Janet Wood ChatGPT PRO plan
