I’ve noticed an issue with the “Delete All” function in ChatGPT. When I use this option, it deletes all the chats, including the ones that are archived. I believe the “Delete All” function should only delete the active chats and leave the “Archived” ones intact.
I’m experiencing the same problem. I’m currently taking a class and relying on ChatGPT to assist with my learning. I archived three important documents for review, but they have disappeared. To test it, I added another archive and deleted my chat history, which also removed the new archive.
I had the exact same terrible experience today as you did. Despite the time that has passed, I am filled with doubt and anger at OpenAI’s continued lack of resolution. From a common-sense perspective, carefully archiving selected conversations from the vast chat history is an effort that users value deeply. To indiscriminately delete everything, including those, is an utterly unacceptable action within any workflow. It feels like the “Spell of Destruction (Barus!)” from the Studio Ghibli movie Laputa: Castle in the Sky!
This is one of the most sought-after features in ChatGPT. It is strange that OpenAI has not addressed this yet.
Yeah I’ve just cancelled my openai subscription for good I think. Everything they promise they never fully deliver on or there’s hidden catches, and then they dismiss concerns and cases, if they even bother to respond at all. The only thing they have that’s better now is the voice chat/video chat, but even that doesn’t resemble their demo’s. Like we get promised deluxe features and then get given home brand/budget brand features with little to no support.
Goodbye OpenAI
To be fair, I am confused from the opposite direction. I want to delete everything, including the archived chats, but I am struggling to do this. I’m only seeing methods to delete one at a time from the Archive folder.
my mistake, it just took a few minutes to flush out the archive folder.
