I have been using chatgpt for a while now, and have built up quite a backlog of chats. Today, I decided to purge most of them, while keeping some of the chats that I felt were useful for me to keep. So, I archived the chats I wanted to keep, thinking that archiving them would protect them, only to find that they are also deleted when a user selects the “delete all conversations” button.
So that begs the question, what is the point of archiving a conversation if it is also going to be deleted with everything else? Isn’t that the point of archiving a conversation?
To remedy this, I suggest the following improvements:
- Separate Archived Conversations: Ensure archived chats are excluded from deletion when the “Delete All” button is used.
- Clearer Functionality: Add a clear warning or confirmation message to specify that archived conversations will also be deleted (if this functionality remains as is).
- True Archiving Feature: Create a feature where archived conversations are treated as immutable and require a separate action to delete them.
Thank you for your time.
