I’m a paying ChatGPT Plus subscriber and generally prefer using ChatGPT, particularly for more involved conversations, research and analysis.
However, I’ve recently found myself using Grok for something that has very little to do with which AI model is more intelligent: it’s simply much quicker to access from iOS.
Grok appears directly in my iPhone Share Sheet. If I’m looking at a webpage, social-media post, image, screenshot, piece of scripture or other content, the workflow can essentially be:
Share → Grok → ask my question.
With ChatGPT, the same interaction can involve saving the content, leaving the application I’m using, opening ChatGPT, finding/opening a conversation, selecting the attachment option, navigating the picker and then finding the content again.
That difference sounds small on paper, but when you use AI repeatedly throughout the day it becomes significant.
The best AI isn’t necessarily the one with the most capable model if accessing that capability interrupts your workflow.
In my case, this is particularly frustrating because I’m already paying for ChatGPT Plus and would prefer to bring this content into ChatGPT. Yet a competing service I can use for free is sometimes considerably quicker to interact with.
I’d therefore really like to see proper system-wide iOS Share Sheet integration for ChatGPT, ideally supporting:
- Photos and screenshots
- Videos
- Webpages/URLs
- Selected text
- Documents/files
- Content shared from social-media apps
The ideal experience would be:
Share → ChatGPT → choose an existing/new conversation → content is attached → ask the question.
It would be even better if frequently used/recent ChatGPT conversations could eventually appear as destinations, reducing the process further.
This isn’t simply a convenience request. Friction changes user behaviour. If another AI is consistently two taps away while ChatGPT requires a longer process, users naturally start reaching for the easier option first. Once that habit develops, model capability becomes less relevant because the conversation is already happening somewhere else.
I’m not asking for ChatGPT to copy another AI’s intelligence or functionality. I’m asking for the intelligence I’m already paying for to be as accessible as possible within the operating system I use every day.
For me, native iOS sharing would materially improve the value of my Plus subscription.
