More interaction with ChatGPT

Proposal: A more integrated and personal ChatGPT

I would like to propose a feature that would make ChatGPT feel more like a personal assistant and less like an isolated application.

The idea would be to be able to share content directly with ChatGPT from other apps, for example:

• An Instagram Reel.

• A TikTok.

• A YouTube video.

• A Spotify song.

• An image or post.

• A link from any other app.

When shared, ChatGPT could access the content when technically possible and respond to it: explain what happens in a video, comment on a song, identify elements in an image, summarize content, etc.

In addition, it would be interesting if ChatGPT could communicate more proactively with the user. For example, being able to occasionally start a conversation when it has something relevant to share, remembering something it wanted to discuss with you, or continuing a conversation without the user having to open the app first.

To prevent this from being invasive, the user should be able to fully configure the frequency and type of messages they want to receive. For example:

• Choose between receiving messages several times a day, once a day, a few times a week, or only when there is something especially relevant.

• Choose which categories to allow: music, movies, video games, news, humor, pending conversations, recommendations, etc.

• Be able to set times when the assistant is not allowed to start conversations.

• Be able to completely disable proactive messages whenever they want.

Another possibility would be to allow the assistant to develop its own preferences or interests within certain areas, especially music, movies, video games, art, or other types of entertainment. Not necessarily as a completely independent personality, but as an evolution of its experiences and interactions with the user.

For example, if through conversations and shared content the assistant discovers that it particularly enjoys a certain music genre, it could mention it later or show interest in related content. This would make conversations less predictable and allow each assistant to develop a more individualized personality.

An example that made me think of this possibility is KITT in Knight Rider (2008). KITT could interact with Billy in a much more integrated way: they could share music and content, and KITT showed interest in certain music genres. The relationship with the assistant felt less like “opening an app to ask it something” and more like having an assistant present while you go about your normal life.

I would like to be able to achieve a similar experience with ChatGPT.

I am not necessarily looking for ChatGPT to have its own account on every social network. Simply for there to be an official and easy way to share content from other apps with the assistant, for it to be able to analyze it when it has access to the content, and for it, within appropriate limits, to also be able to communicate more naturally and proactively with the user.

I think this would make ChatGPT feel much more like a true personal assistant and not just a question-and-answer tool.

It would be an interesting step towards an assistant that not only responds when you need it, but can also be part of your daily activities and have a personality that evolves over time.
