I have encountered a bug while using ChatGPT’s image generation feature. After requesting an image, I pressed the “Stop Generating” button, but the loading indicator continued indefinitely. Even after refreshing the page and restarting the app, the issue persists.
It seems that the system does not properly halt the generation process after pressing “Stop,” causing it to remain stuck in a loading state. Please look into this issue and let me know if there are any updates or fixes available.
I have this problem too. It’s awful because it completely prevents me from being able to send any more messages or even go through the chat tree. There needs to be a way to hard stop image generation to allow for sending more prompts. As is it, any chat can now be a tickong time bomb, it’s terrifying! They really really need to fix this ASAP.

a workaround i found - go on the desktop app and send a prompt in that thread, it worked there and then go back to the web version and it should be unstuck now
Im experiencing this issue too. I tried downloading the desktop app but it still wont let me send a prompt in the thread that is “stuck”. I don’t see the send button and when I type something and press enter, it doesn’t send.
I noticed that the chat is actually stuck generating an image from a couple hours ago… The image is stuck in a “Finishing Touches” state. Ive sent a lot of different messages since that image, but that image is still stuck in that state. The “Finishing Touches” is still changing colors as if it the back-end was still processing.
have the same problem, it is stuck in “finishing touches” for over a day now, and the chat is completely stuck, can’t send any more messages.
it’s a shame, it’s a long project i’ve been working on, and now it seems i cant continue
Got this issue too. I even tried archiving this conversation and then retrieving it, but the problem still persisted. Please fix it @devs
Same issue. The new image generation features were working so beautifully in creating a consistent character, but with a stuck image generation, there’s no way to continue it.
