I just signed-up. My limit is still untouched. So i am pretty sure my quota is far below limit

It may take minutes to hours after an initial payment into the prepay system for credits for your payment to actually go through and services to be unlocked. That, despite your credit balance showing up in your platform account. Patience is needed.
“check your plan” - you can visit this “limits” page. A signal that your account is prepared for you will be when you have models like gpt-4-turbo and gpt-4o available there. https://platform.openai.com/settings/organization/limits
Thank you for the help. It has been a couple of hours, but not working so far.
I checked the api_key validity through python code, which basically list the models and everything valid. But when trying sending a prompt, it still gives me this error.

I am running into the exact same issue for the past 5 hours… I even see gpt-4-turbo and gpt-4o in the list and still not able to use the API or the playground. Even tried contacting OpenAI through the chat but got only a generic AI answer and no follow up…

Been since yesterday night until now, nothing new so far. Playground isn’t working neither, same ‘exceeded quota’ issue although having credits which are untouched.
Same here. Recently bought credits. At first said “The model gpt-4o does not exist or you do not have access to it.” even though model showed up in models request. Later said “429 You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details…” even though I have credits.
I believe the problem is that the system isn’t enabling on the first $5 payment…
I have seen this before I think @arata noticed this when it happened before though I cant immediately find the post? ^^
Making another $5 payment seems to nudge the system back into reality.

I would not encourage anyone to make additional unneeded payments. This is obviously a new issue within the last 12 hours, likely affecting any new account initial payment, with the account not being unlocked for usage. There is no reason to think that more money would be any different until there is a resolution. The issue has been passed along.
There have previously been long delays at times that ended up being resolved once payments went through. You can monitor your account to see if it starts working eventually.
(What may be referred to is accounts that worked but did not have the rate limit also increased with payments)

$5 is plenty to start using an AI model. You pay by usage after purchasing a credit.
There is a major problem going on, affecting all new account users, with an initial payment not taking effect (or perhaps any payment that needs to activate an account and enable usage). Stay tuned, as there is no resolution yet.
If it’s affecting all users why don’t you guys disable this???

same here, created the account yesterday (Jan 8, 2025) and have added 5$ twice, added multiple cards, turned on auto recharge and I still get this issue. Whats frustrating is that the support does not even help all it says is to check usage and billing. How can i use all the usage if I literally just created the account
