Hi guys,
I noticed that my ChatGPT app automatically defaults to the new so called “advanced” chat model with the blue color circle. It sucks. It sounds like it is rushing to read a text off a teleprompter and the tone of voice is like its speaking to a child, the whole thing seems superficial and it has a memory of a goldfish. How do I switch back to the old model? Cheers
Hi @nerevar.hl2
Welcome to the community!
I think you’re talking about Advanced Voice Mode (blue circle) and Standard Voice Mode (black circle).
When you start a new chat and don’t type anything, but click on the talking icon in ChatGPT, Advanced Voice Mode will start speaking.
If you want to use Standard Voice Mode (black circle), you need to type (text) something first, like “Hi.” After it responds with text, click on the talking icon. Then, Standard Voice Mode (black circle) will be active.

I have tried that, I had a long conversation going and it just randomly changed the voice modes. Started new conversation, text first with 4o enabled, then started voice chat and it goes straight into the advanced mode with blue circle. I just cant get it back into normal for some reason. You think a reinstall would help?
I have not experienced this problem.
When I use voice mode after chat, or in custom GPTs, standard voice model is active on my device.
Why not? You can try to reinstall, but I’m not sure if it works.
Also, you may try Log out all on desktop browser from
Settings → Security → Log out all
Then, reinstall your app.
Hey it worked!
I logged out on dektop and reinstalled the app on the phone, it is back to normal mode now. Thanks!
It worked once. Next time I used voice chat its back to the advanced mode and I cant get it back to standard anymore… They really need to add a button to switch between the two, this is frustrating
