I am using the Android app with GPT4o with the new real-time voice.
When we start a new chat, It forces us to use the real time voice. We don’t get another option. However, if we use it for over an hour, we get an error message that says that the voice chat has a limit of 1 hour.
Then it looks like it reverts back to the regular voice. Which is more of a back and forth voice with the white circle.
However, this does not work. There will be an error noise if I try to submit any new voice through the old non-real time voice feature.
So basically, this results in us not able to have an ongoing voice chat. I would like to be able to have an ongoing voice chat with regular voice.
It is very nice to have a long running chat that has voice capability. I feel like this is a main draw of the app for me. I really hope you continue to allow us to use long running vice chats, Even if it must be in the old non-real-time voice.
Couple of options to resolve: I kind of feel like if all three could be implemented that would be excellent.

allow us to start a new chat using the old non-real-time voice so we can have a new chat that is an extended chat with voice. This would also be nice because sometimes the new voice can be a bit aversive with more serious topics because of how it sounds so enthusiastic. It also is quite short in it’s responses. So I think giving us the option to choose real-time voice versus non-real time would be excellent.

fix the error so that once we hit our our quota in a conversation with real-time voice, we can continue it with the old voice. I think that this would make sense because the UI indicates we should be able to chat with the old non-real time voice.

remove the hour limit of real time voice on a single chat. Isnt the daily limit sufficient?
Thanks!
10/12/24 It seems that I was able to switch to the old non real-time voice chat with one of the chats which wouldn’t go past an hour. So I think the problem is now solved. Thanks this can be deleted or closed.
