Feature Suggestion: Group Chats by Common Goal
Problem:
As users work on multiple topics, they often create several separate chats for the same overall goal. Over time, it becomes difficult to find related conversations and maintain context across them.
Proposed Feature:
Introduce Chat Groups that allow users to group multiple chats based on a common goal, project, or topic.
For example, a user preparing for a job interview could create a group called “Micron Interview Preparation” and add separate chats such as:
-
DBMS Preparation
-
Operating Systems Preparation
-
Java Interview Questions
-
HR Interview Preparation
-
Project Explanation
How it could work:
-
Users can manually create a group and add existing chats.
-
ChatGPT could also suggest groups automatically by identifying chats with similar goals or topics.
-
Each group could have a name, description, and optional goal.
-
ChatGPT could use the grouped conversations as context when the user asks questions related to that goal.
-
Users should be able to remove or move chats between groups at any time.
Example:
Instead of having 10 separate chats for interview preparation, a user could have:
Micron Interview Preparation
├── DBMS
├── OS
├── Java
├── AI/ML
├── HR
└── Project Discussion
This would make ChatGPT much more useful for long-term projects, learning goals, interview preparation, travel planning, research, and other multi-chat workflows.
Why this would be useful:
It would improve chat organization, make related conversations easier to find, and help users maintain a continuous context around a larger goal without having to keep everything inside a single long conversation.
