Hi OpenAI team,

I’m not sure if this has already been suggested, but I think it would be really useful to have a feature that allows users to organize their chat history into customizable groups or categories. This would help users manage and retrieve their conversations more efficiently, especially for those who use ChatGPT for different purposes (e.g., personal, work, hobbies).

Key features:

  • Ability to create, name, and manage groups or folders.
  • Drag and drop conversations into the groups for easy organization.
  • Option to filter or search within specific groups.
  • A tagging system for further categorization (optional but useful).

I believe this feature would greatly enhance the user experience, especially for those who switch between different topics or projects. Thanks for considering this suggestion !

I completely agree with the feature request, and I wanted to add a thought that could take ChatGPT’s usability even further:

What if we could tag specific solutions or conversations that are recurrent or linked to ongoing projects? Imagine being able to recall past chats easily, based on tags or related queries. Claude.ai does something similar with “Projects,” but if ChatGPT already remembers some information about our preferences or past questions, why not make this recall seamless?

Imagine asking a follow-up to a problem solved a few weeks ago, and ChatGPT knows exactly which past chat to reference, pulling it back into the current conversation. It would make solving multi-step problems or managing complex projects so much smoother!
