My concern is the inevitable bot farms and tactics to boost initiated conversations. If there is no user input allowed for ratings & reviews we are completely dependent on a single metric.
As a GPT creator, you can enable reviews in your settings. This will allow users to send you an email with their review.
This isn’t what I mean. Public user reviews is essential for any sort of app store.
A simple metric is by no means sufficient. Especially one that can be easily manipulated and doesn’t reflect the actual usefulness of the app.
Look at the #1 item. GPT-5. Easy buzzword to gain a one-time hit from 200k people who realize that it’s just a prompted “you are genius, say big words” model. It’s an SEO’d gimmick. (EDIT: I see it’s been culled from the charts )
Then, you have a niche model that is used daily by 10,000 people who carry the same conversation for weeks.
If GPT-5 can SEO 10k per day who try it once and stop, while the niche GPT only gets 1k per day because it’s actually useful and people continue the conversation, who’s the winner?
One could argue that the niche model would outlive the GPT-5 model, but if the top chart models are mainly gimmicks the GPT store will lose flavor and fail
This metric says to me: create GPTs that gathers large hits from SEO, and that causes people to delete and start fresh for that sweet metric gainz
This is very hard. You have to have serious moderation put in place to make it feasible, and with all the stuff on their plate currently, I don’t think it is going to happen anytime soon.
Good point. To a degree.
Having a simple star rating would be sufficient, for now.
The current metric: initiated conversations is insane. It’s like they took the concept of “# of Downloads” from other app stores and thought that it would fit nicely in theirs.
They are going to spend a lot of time preventing people from manipulating these numbers. I can already guarantee there are people writing up Selenium instances to initiate conversations using a separate LLM to converse.
I can already see: “1,000 conversations for $5”. Just as all social media platforms suffer from. The big difference is they have an extensive algorithm that pulls a lot of numbers to determine the actual weight of these metrics.
The ChatGPT Store is launched!
You can explore GPTs here.
Today, we’re starting to roll out the GPT Store to ChatGPT Plus
I was correct, they are going to roll it out like GPTs.
I got the right day but the rollout did start before 10am PT.
I’m a GPT Plus subscriber and I’ve released GPTs but I still don’t have the new store… anyone else still waiting to be rolled out?
Update: Just got access! My public GPT is in there too.
I don’t see the new store either. I have GPT+ and one GPT which I believe should show up as public.
Update. Now visible
Totally agree and it’s going to be a bumpy ride that’s for sure.
Either way, whatever number they will display as the key metric will be exploited to drive whatever type of monetization strategy (and if it is just the strategy to sell “number go up”).
I think we should watch and learn (and hope) what OpenAI did learn from the Plug-In store to make this new store a success.
I can see the store now and there is a boatload of GPTs. It’d be nice if there was a flag for (Integrates with an API) or (Has Actions).
Any idea how to submit a GPT to OpenAI for consideration for Featured status?
In the Discord AMA, a developer announced that reviews would be released soon.
i just signed up for chatgpt plus and after doing that i got directed to this page, but now i can’t find it anywhere anymore. only thing i have left from it is the logo creator plugin that now lives in my sidebar because i clicked on it
