I cleared the cookies again, went to chatgpt com, logged in via google, and again encountered the endless setSID spinning. Then I hit the back button several times to go to the page where OpenAI shows “Oops, something went wrong.” After that, I used the back button to return to the chatgpt com page and clicked “Continue with Google” again, and it worked for me
This worked for me on the main machine this morning.
Started it up and straight away got the spin going…
Then cleared cookies on OpenAI and ChatGPT… did this…
As it has worked 5+ times now, I would love to see if anyone else can duplicate it.
Still happening for me… been days…
+1 here. Using Chrome, I have tried every trick available on the internet. Having the playground and ChatGPT open at the same time. A few times it worked, but today not anymore. It’s been going on for a few days now Very confusing and annoying.
On another form post one workaround in Chrome that appears to fix the issue:
- Type in the address bar:
chrome://flags/#enable-quic - Disable Experimental QUIC protocol
- Restart chrome and try to login again
I cannot link the reference post sorry.
confirmed to work for me… will report back in 24 hours to see if it sticks
Grug, I think you solved it.
Same, will wait a few days but thank you!
every time i try to access using my gmail *****@webbh.co.uk (which is active and valid) email account it just hangs and cannot login.
I am on a paid subscription and can only access through Gmail Auth.
Anyone having the same issue?
cleared computer cache, browser cache, history, IP change, etc etc etc etc just not playing ball.
I’m still having this same issue – root website doesn’t load, staring at a blank screen forever. When I clear my cookies, same issue. When I go incognito I can see the login page, I’m able to click the login with google button, but then I get stuck on the SID page – again staring at a blank page.
Oh! This worked for me! Thank you
This actually worked! Thanks Grug, been down for over a week! After this I’d like to disable sign in with google and switch to an email / password login. It seems like this is not possible though? Does anyone have any tips on how to get this done?
Today the chat openai com / auth / login wasn’t working either
Changed this setting and now all the issues have gone away
So now the issue has been identified who needs to resolve this? openai or webkit developers?
This worked for me! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Thanks for this! Worked for me! OpenAI still should step up and be considering how they can fix these breaking changes for those who don’t read the forums. Albeit, it seems it’s on Google’s side, but it’s only ChatGPT that seems to be impacted by it, there must be a way from the service providers side to sort this rather than all of us disabling whatever this experimental protocol is! Thank you so much Grug!
Cheers @Grug - the clearing cookies/cache every hour was getting tedious! Just hopes this issue gets sorted soon though!!
this works for me! thank you!
@Grug Thank you! This worked for me too on Mac + Chrome:
Workaround in Chrome that appears to fix the issue:
- Type in the address bar:
chrome://flags/#enable-quic - Disable Experimental QUIC protocol (this will make sense when you get there)
- Restart chrome and try to login again
Update: the issue appears again…
Grug, thanks! Also fixed for me with that workaround.
This working. Nice work… THX!
