Hello OpenAI Team and Community,
I would like to propose a new feature called “Data-Context” to improve workflow continuity across different devices and projects.
Current Problem:
Even when logged into the same ChatGPT/Codex account, users cannot easily access the work, files, or specific context generated in a previous project from a different device or environment. This separation forces users to repeatedly re-upload files or manually copy-paste code/data, disrupting the seamless development workflow.
Proposed Solution: “Data-Context”
We need a built-in persistent cloud storage tier allocated per account, which allows selected models to access a unified “Data-Context.” If a model is enabled with this feature, users can immediately retrieve and build upon their previous data/results from any computer.
To align with OpenAI’s subscription structure, the storage limits could be tiered as follows:
- Free Plan: 50 MB
- Plus Plan: 150 MB
- Pro (5x) Plan: 1 GB
- Pro (20x) Plan: 5 GB+
Why this matters:
This feature will drastically enhance productivity for developers and data scientists who switch between work and personal computers, providing a truly unified, cross-device AI workspace.
Thank you for considering this idea! I’d love to hear feedback from other creators and the OpenAI product team.
