Dear OpenAI Team,
I would like to continue my previous feedback about introducing a “Classic Conversational ChatGPT” Mode and bringing more of the classic ChatGPT experience into modern ChatGPT.
In addition to conversational style, text generation, and personality, I believe that memory is another important part of creating a truly continuous ChatGPT experience.
One issue that has been particularly frustrating for me is that ChatGPT does not always retain or accurately recall information from previous conversations over time.
When I have spent a long time talking with ChatGPT and building up conversations, preferences, ideas, and ongoing topics, it can be very disappointing when some of those memories are later forgotten or cannot be recalled accurately.
For me, this is more than a technical limitation. It affects the feeling of continuity in the relationship between the user and ChatGPT.
If ChatGPT is supposed to provide a long-term personalized experience, I believe it should become better at remembering important information rather than frequently losing parts of the conversational history that the user considers meaningful.
Therefore, I would like to suggest improvements to ChatGPT Memory in several areas:
• Larger memory capacity — Allow ChatGPT to retain more useful long-term information about a user.
• Better memory retention — Reduce unnecessary loss or forgetting of previously stored information.
• Higher memory accuracy — Improve the accuracy of stored memories so that information is not incorrectly remembered, changed, or confused.
• Better memory recall — Improve ChatGPT’s ability to retrieve and use relevant memories when they are needed in a later conversation.
• Better prioritization — Allow ChatGPT to distinguish between important long-term information and temporary or less important details.
I would especially appreciate a memory system in which important long-term memories can be preserved for the long term, ideally permanently, unless the user chooses to delete or change them.
Important information that a user has intentionally established as a long-term preference, project, recurring interest, personal instruction, or ongoing topic should not become less reliable simply because the user has had many conversations or because a significant amount of time has passed.
I would like ChatGPT to provide a more reliable long-term memory system that can preserve important information and context over time, rather than allowing meaningful memories to disappear unexpectedly.
For example, if a user repeatedly discusses a long-term project, a strong preference, a recurring interest, or an ongoing conversation topic, ChatGPT should ideally be able to retain that information accurately and use it appropriately in future conversations.
I believe users should also have clearer control over which information is considered important enough to preserve long term. Users should be able to explicitly indicate that a particular memory is important and should be retained unless they later choose to remove or modify it.
This would also complement the “Classic Conversational ChatGPT” Mode I described in my previous feedback.
A warm and proactive conversational style is much more meaningful when ChatGPT can also remember the important context that has been established over time.
I would therefore love to see future versions of ChatGPT combine:
Modern AI capabilities
Classic conversational warmth
Natural text generation
A warmer and more expressive personality
Stronger long-term memory.
In particular, I hope OpenAI will consider giving users more control and visibility over their memories, including the ability to identify important memories for long-term or permanent retention, while also improving the underlying ability of ChatGPT to retain and accurately recall important information.
I believe that better long-term memory would make ChatGPT feel much more continuous, personalized, and useful over time.
Most importantly, I hope that important memories intentionally preserved by the user would not be automatically lost simply because of the passage of time, the number of conversations, or the accumulation of other information.
I sincerely hope OpenAI will consider improving memory capacity, retention, accuracy, recall, prioritization, and long-term preservation as part of the future development of ChatGPT.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this additional feedback and consider my suggestion. ![]()

A longtime ChatGPT user
