In long Codex conversations, important decisions, commands, caveats, and unresolved questions are easy to lose in the context—especially when I notice something important but cannot act on it immediately.
Please allow users to select part of an assistant response and pin that excerpt to a persistent notes panel beside the conversation.
Suggested interaction:
- Select text in any Codex response.
- Click “Pin” from a floating toolbar or context menu.
- Show pinned excerpts in a collapsible right-side panel.
- Allow users to reorder, tag, mark as resolved, and jump back to the original message.
- Expose message selection, message references, and context-menu actions to plugins so third-party developers can extend this workflow.
This would be especially valuable during long-running coding tasks with high information density. Even if OpenAI does not build the complete notes system immediately, opening the message-selection and context-menu extension APIs would let plugins provide it.
