Feature Request: Chat Deletion with Undo + Reset Chat Command

Dear OpenAI Team,

As an active and appreciative user of ChatGPT, I would like to suggest a few enhancements that could make the platform even safer and more user-friendly.

Problem:

Currently, there is no way to quickly reset a conversation mid-chat or recover a deleted chat once removed. This poses risks of accidental data loss and can be disruptive to user workflows.

Suggestions:

  • Reset Chat Capability: Allow users to reset a chat session via a simple command like “reset chat,” paired with a confirmation prompt to prevent accidental resets.
  • Undo Chat Deletion: Implement an “Undo” feature after a chat is deleted, functioning like a recycle bin or temporary archive where chats can be recovered within a configurable time window (e.g., 30 days).
  • Lock/Favorite Chats: Provide the ability to lock or favorite critical conversations, protecting them from accidental deletion and making them easier to organize.

Benefits:

These improvements would greatly enhance user control over conversations, minimize the risk of unintentional data loss, and contribute to a more seamless and reassuring user experience.

Thank you for your continued dedication to improving ChatGPT.

Best regards,
XYZ
