EU Endpoints (eu.api.openai.com/...) fails with "geography restrictions" reason

OpenAI demoed this endpoint a few months ago:

https://eu.api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions

Trying to use it in the API I get: “This endpoint is only accessible by projects with geography restrictions enabled.” However I have never found this option. Any ideas how to get this running?

Are you using the old style API keys? Might look into minting a new key and give it proper permissions.

Creating a new API key, i however do not see where i can enable “geography restrictions” as requested by the error that arises when using the EU endpoint

I checked with OpenAI: As of January 2025, eu.api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions is available only to selected Enterprise customers who have undergone an application process.

I anticipate that access will be expanded, but no timeline has been provided.

Any update on this? I tried to reach openai customer service multiple times already to enable this for us but no luck so far - we get some automated irrelevant no reply email as an answer. Any idea how we can reach them to enable the feature for us?
