Why in the world did they remove that? It’s not even hidden anymore it’s just gone. Of all times to do something like this they do it now? Bring it back.

I don’t know what happened. Yesterday it worked but today I fired up the chat and found that I can no longer edit messages. I don’t know if it’s a bug but even if it’s not please restore this feature. It was one of the most useful features in the whole chat. Without it it’s hard to do anything without messing up the chat. A very stupid move on your part a lot of people will leave you.
It has been fixed for me, finally; is it still gone for anybody else?
Edit: Was it always set so you are unable to edit the first message? and is this the same layout as before?
The button was earlier not there, when I checked 10-15 minutes ago. After I refreshed it a couple of times, it is now there. 
I can confirm that both the edit button and the reload prompt button as I call it are back. We’re good, finally.

Update uh for me it’s working again.
I Can’t Edit Prompts I Know This Is Has An Before Topic But It’s Happening Again And idk What To Do Anymore i Tried To Fix It By Making Different Accounts But Nope
It worked for me approximately six hours ago, but it seems that some users are still experiencing this issue. Since we have also received more reports from other users confirming that the problem has been resolved, I hope it will be fully resolved very soon.
They should make minimum 2 queries to see the Edit message button → They can’t edit first message, only from second message they can see the button.
Apparently it was just a bug and the issue has been resolved. In case someone else experiences the issue, you’ll probably just have to wait a day or so, and in the meantime you could use the mobile app to edit your prompts.
A workaround to circumvent this Edit missing option is to start a chat by instructing it to “tag each prompt with a number, beginning with a letter such as ‘A,’ ‘B,’ or ‘C.’ In your responses, continue incrementing the number, such as E-2, E-3 and so on.”
This will allow to reference back to a specific prompt you wish to edit and restart from there.

Is this a bug? If it’s done intentionally, you really need to reconsider. It’s a feature I use constantly and using an AI chat without it is considerably less productive.
This was a bug, a fix has been rolled out.
I’m being forced into using thier “canvas” feature right now. I noticed them forcing us into using it before but I always exit out of it because it’s so buggy and doesn’t even work properly when you’re using your phone but looks like I has no choice now. Not to mention how the responses have become lazy. They added a “project” folder which allows you to add “projects and instructions” but it’s not even following the instructions.

If the problem still persists on your end, try doing a hard refresh on your browser to force it to reload properly. On Windows, press Ctrl + Shift + R or Ctrl + F5. On Mac, press Cmd + Shift + R. If that doesn’t work, try clearing your browser cache in the settings and then refresh the page.
