I want to add my case to the growing list of reports here, because I think the pattern is now too consistent to be coincidental.
Background:
I had Trusted Access for Cyber (TAC) verified and Daybreak Blue active before August 19, 2026. On that date, OpenAI acknowledged a technical issue that removed access for a limited set of users (confirmed by OpenAI Devs on X: OpenAI Developers on X: "Due to a technical issue, a limited set of users’ access to Daybreak Blue is no longer active and they will need to re-verify to maintain their access. This isn’t the experience we want to deliver, and we’re making sure that the issue doesn’t repeat in the future. Affect… / X, and in the Help Center: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001259-openai-daybreak-common-issues-and-troubleshooting).
I completed a fresh passport re-verification on August 27. It did not restore access. Since then, every attempt to start verification on chatgpt.com/cyber returns:
“Unable to start identity verification. You may not currently be eligible for this identity verification process.”
Support experience:
It is now nearly a month later. My case has been passed across 4 different case numbers (#14618552 → #14773541 → #14948763 → #15160957), each follow-up producing a new case number instead of continuing the thread. I’ve received:
- Contradictory instructions (told to resubmit documents, then told not to)
- Repeated requests for the same device/browser/timestamp info I’d already provided
- “Escalated to a specialist, expect a response in the coming days” — repeated at least 3 times with no substantive follow-up
I’m not the only one
This thread (Enough template responses. Daybreak and Trusted Access failures need an actual investigation) and this one (https://community.openai.com/t/daybreak-blue-tac-access-lost-due-to-confirmed-technical-issue-re-verification-now-says-ineligible/1391180) describe the exact same symptom: previously working access disappearing without warning, re-verification returning the same ineligibility-style error, and support unable to reset, restore, or override the result. TechCrunch (Researchers say OpenAI revoked their access to limited cyber program | TechCrunch) and The Register (OpenAI glitch locks out vetted cyber researchers – and some can't get back in) both covered this as an ongoing, unresolved issue affecting multiple researchers, not isolated incidents.
OpenAI, please stop passing this problem on to standardized bot responses and provide a proper solution.
If others are experiencing this, please add your case details below — the pattern seems clear at this point.
