OpenAI please add GUI builder similar to custom GPT.
- GPT persistently tracks items within GUI in reference to chat application such as CRPG
- User interacts with modules without having to retrigger dialog
- Fast, per turn background image generation as an option
- Ability to interact with the world or NPCs such as trade window, action like puzzle or turn based combat
- Modules for subsystems such as crafting, skills, inventory, settlement management
Biggest issues currently playing CRPG:
- Inventory tracking is degrading with each session
- Sorting, trading delete or storing items is tiresome process and often confusing for gpt to keep up with
- Braking immersion forgetting past progress filling in gaps with unrelated context
- Extremely passive relying exclusively on play actions
- Heavy affirmation - for example when pressed for coin, which otherwise player doesn’t have, there’s no push back or “you can’t do that’“.
- There is no proactive action on part of the game at all.
- Everything is unlocked even a collapsed service tunnel - just need to make plasma torch out of scrap in the year 1909 OR here is a vent and two branching service tunnels. More danger, but don’t worry about it.
- There is no sense of game vs player at all. It’s extremely affirmative system.
- Text heavy dialog that goes on and on when simple yes or no is enough.
- There’s not enough memory for consistency and continuity
I believe, CRPG is the benchmark for ChatGPT’s performance. I welcome anyone to jump in the new chat and spend few hours crafting your world. Return the next day and you’ll see for yourself some issues I highlighted. Not only that, they relate to overall ChatGPT’s logic quality and performance.
I find gaming to be a sort of a test for ChatGPT. If it can play the player and keep it consistent and fun while being proactive with plenty of action and ways for the player to hit Game Over screen - that to me is the real benchmark, a decent one at that too!
