Could we get more categories/filters in this forum?

I’m just seeing a lot of stuff on here coming from different “tiers” of users/community members.

I.e. a lot of posts that are wildly simplistic and simple commentary on OAS or LLMs in a general way, often having no real content within them.

Our top-level filters/categories seem to only be supporting a very broad topical aspect, thus those looking for developer-level discussion that includes code and such, having to wade through and try to find topics that are engaging to them, whilst a lot of posts are simply below the threshold of interest to many…

Overall it just seems like we need more capability to “flag a post and suggest a category change” - perhaps first directly to the post-maker, (they could reject/accept), and then also an option to flag and “send to moderator” instead - thus allowing the mod to make the decision instead of the poster (presumably up to the person flagging to decide what level to send it to).

And then to support the better division of content we need a more clear set of filters/setup so that those posting simple Q&A vs. those posting just random ideas/commentary vs. those actually posting and discussing projects could get a view of the forum that’s a little more streamlined to their tastes.

It seems like a lot of folks are finding this forum and just using it as such a basic sounding board and commentary platform that a lot of the real interesting stuff gets kind of buried or not read by those who might be interested because it’s all within the same “category” of the “API” or “prompting”…

Any thoughts?

seems like a good idea…

maybe a category just for ‘people introducing themselves and their work’…

the LLM is hyping a lot of people up with their unique experience with it and they want to broadcast it here, thinking that’s cutting edge and their innovation is groundbreaking…

I see that drowning out a lot of the technical data.

~Just my two cents.~

which is why I have several Categories muted.

The forum is actively trying to move to a more dedicated serious Development footing btw.

That’s BC we have the category “Use cases and examples” brothers.

Plz don’t be agressive. We have never be born to be programmers at the very beginning.

Some PPL are just rookies on the forum. They can learn how to use this forum.

And I have done that coding from MS-DOS to Windows 11, and now AIs as OS.

We all were ROOKIES.

And some rookies can give you guys some good ideas or frameworks to build more efficient models.

A lot of people think they’re so smart and original when they’re really not, whether it be a simple discussion or a pet project. One of the hottest threads here is a RAG implementation claiming to be a living soul. Yes, really.

You get a lot of Musk-like behavior here. People thinking that wrapping an SDK is groundbreaking just because AI is involved. Or bringing up the same discussion for the millionth time thinking theirs is somehow the first. It isn’t systemically preventable. You just have to block anyone doing it, or click away.

I am at the moment mostly a simple user , and have not begin to use the API.
So, I can be part of the problem, and I agree , there must be a clear separation betwin real technical topics, discussions from people with real knowledge and experience of LLM, and the others like me.

This is certainly a clear case where a classification tree is more pratical than a tag classification.

Only for the base of the forum. Like old ones.

So, you can let profane like me talking about all their stuff, maybe sometimes it can happen some usefull thing.

And the core of the forum can be protected from signa noise.

Yes exactly, a classification tree is much more practical then a tag classification system! Well said!!
