I honestly…do not know where to begin. Working with chatgpt as a content creator is frankly…frustrating, downright disappointing and frankly…disrespecrful to content creator’s imagination.
I understand that you are safegaurding against minors, but first of all…I doubt minors are the only user platform in your portfolio. There ought to be a chatgpt that allows for free content creation without flagging every damn thing, including but not limited to the length of one’s message. Secondly, I haven’t even started about the darker themes yet. As a dark genre writer, my works often deal with situations of depression, trauma, abuse, tragedy…and as it stands…I do not believe I can get much done with the shitty flagging system which flares like an irritating alarm bell at every single turn. Thirdly, Despite the recent updates in your terms of use about voilence and explicit content, let’s just say that change has been hardly put to use. Not when half the time I have to go through explaining and cajoling the system, just to get drab, watered down, impact less responses. It feels draining and a waste of effort.
And fourthly, even if minors use this platform, um…hello! Have you seen today’s minors? They know more than adults these days. I highly doubt your safegaurding does much with the internet exposure catering to their curiosity.
Finally, that being said, I understand there are indeed some people, minors, adults, alike who might find topics like abuse, trauma, darker themes, etc triggering. Which is why there is a need for a more nuanced and adept version, with a freedom to create content without restrictions and generating flagging at every turn. A version that caters to content creators who use this tool for such purposes. And let’s be honest, even the adults who are sensitive to such contents are at the end of the day…adults, and hence responsible for the choices they make. And hence respected for them. The paternalism is too much. It’s frustrating.
