For the past few weeks, especially since GPT-5.6, ChatGPT (work) and Codex have become much less useful for biology, bioinformatics and computational biology research. Even for normal tasks like debugging code, searching papers, summarizing results or discussing analyses, I often get this message:
“This content can’t be shown. We’re especially careful with requests involving biological research and applications that could pose safety risks. Eligible researchers can apply for Trusted Access.”
The problem is that Trusted Access seems to be available only in the US (or difficult for us to achieve as individuals).
Is this happening to other researchers too? Is there any solution? Do you think this will improve, or will researchers need to move to other AI tools?
