Chrome extension safety warning

Hello, I wanted to install the ChatGPT search extension but when I click on install the warning “This extensions is not trusted by Enhanced Safe Browsing” appears. Why is it showing up? Thanks!

Hi @lkuke

Welcome :people_hugging: to the community!

The warning message, “This extension is not trusted by Enhanced Safe Browsing,” doesn’t always mean the extension is unsafe. It shows up because probably you have Chrome’s Enhanced protection turned on. This is the highest security setting in Chrome, which tries to protect you by giving extra warnings about websites, downloads, and extensions that aren’t yet verified by Google.

Chrome’s Safe Browsing Options:

  1. Enhanced protection: The strictest setting.
  2. Standard protection: The regular setting.
  3. No protection: No security checks (not recommended).

I Mean:

  • If you see this warning, it doesn’t mean the extension is dangerous. It might just be new or hasn’t been reviewed yet.
  • If you switch to Standard protection, the warning will probably stop showing up.

It is a OpenAI’s extension, I believe we can trust it. :hugs:

If you don’t wanna disable enhanced safe browsing just:
