Hello everyone,
I wanted to consult you about a problem I’m experiencing. I downloaded the newly launched ChatGPT desktop application on my MacBook 13-inch, 2019 device, but it indicates that it is not suitable for the device and does not work. My macOS is up to date and my specifications are: Processor: 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB, Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3, Operating System: macOS Sonoma (version 14.5). I can’t understand how it doesn’t work. Is there anyone who can help with this? Or does the application not work on Intel processors?

Yes, this is correct. It is only available on Silicon Macs.

I know people have said that you need Apple silicon to make the ChatGPT app work.
But that is really BS - I can emulate the iphone app on my itel imac, so there is no reason Open AI can not make a native Itel version of the app.
They just choose not to. Which is whatever… but just say that instead.
I just hate when companies say something then the community echos that it is not possible when it obviously is possible.
I talked to some of the developers and it there are features only available on Silicon devices that they use. It is actually not possible to create the application for Intel devices.

Then why will it work on an intel mac with a Iphone App emulator?
We are talking about the desktop app, not the mobile app.
yes we are talking about the desktop app.
and the mobile app can do the same stuff the desktop app can do.
SO, if i can take the mobile app and emulated it to work on an Intel Imac then they can make a version of the desktop app that can also work on an intel Mac.
simple.
I’m guessing the solution is just to easy for them.
