Yes they could have announced update just like how facebook and youtube and other platforms announces ahead of updates
The only limit they talked about when it comes to saved memories its this
but its about the storage not words or paragraphs
Let’s just wait for the official statement if there will by any.
But, don’t forget to write them.
Every damn day.
Anoying?
Yes.
Neccessary.
I’m still unable to save memories into memory storage even after it says it updated and this main issue not storage limit or words limit
That’s what I have been saying and that’s the main problem.
Yeah it’s says they’re back to being fully operational but I still can’t save memories and I haven’t gotten a response from support in over 24 hours either
That’s the main problem we are facing not word limits or storage limit and it is due to manual feature of memory to remember and not earlier automatic update according to user preferences
If you make full use of memory :
I told ChatGPT to calculate how many characters (max) I have stored in memory, and it replied: ~9,000 characters. It differs from account to account, some may be higher, some may be lower. For free users only. For Pro/Plus it said it could make it 4x as much, originally. 9,000 characters if utilised fully is really good. It is about as big as on average three big paragraphs. Offering even more storage by paying extra may seem unnecessary for many, so could ChatGPT have done this intentionally to push free users into buying Pro/Plus? But even paid users are reporting problems, so can’t arrive in any conclusions directly anyhow.
Yeah well the max characters when you want to save something is 300 max characters which is 50 words or something i don t know exactly
and this always cracks me up=)))
just told them can we get an annoucement or at least an update on openai status so that maybe people who want to subscribe will know that memory is not working corectly right now. They just straight up told me no=)))
Common practice. In our country, it’s called letting it rot out.
For those checking every couple hours if its fixed…don’t. I am a software developer, and usually when things like this happen they have to really identify the issue, find the root cause of the issue, work on a fix for the issue, test the fix making sure it actually fixed, and then there’s still red tape of when a fix is actually pushed to production or made live. Its never going to be a “ok this looks good now” and they have it fixed in 30 minutes type of thing. They just acknowledge it, and its still not important enough for them to update the public. Dont drive yourself insane checking every hour. Give it a few days and check again
Truth spoken. It takes time. But you know, it is just frustrating.
I guess we should wait for days or weeks while the team is fixing it
So far what I learnt from chatbot of open ai by using another account
Currently a bug is causing not updated any memories into memory storage page or limiting the words to store
Once they fix this bug or technical issue chatgpt will update everything automatically for paid users pro and plus just like before
They restricted automatic feature for free users globally and automatic feature is only for paid users
I think it’s really ai bot not person on other side because it gave me answers in quickly with in minutes and this bug is going to affect all users either paid or free users untill it’s getting solved and they are currently looking into it after many users reported it and they are prioritising the issue and it is not affecting all users only a subset of users
The time frame just depends on how long it takes them to identify the issue, and work on a fix. Making sure that the fix doesn’t interrupt any other services. So, its going to take time, and usually unless there is a bug like like a complete outage…bug fixes do not get made live one by one. They fix several bugs in the time frame they are given, and then they release an update with those bug fixes. So, even if they do fix this quickly, I highly doubt they will make this bug fix live by itself. They will probably roll it out with other bug fixes
Yes it was a bot, but good to hear. For me, GPT memory is reason i choose OpenAI product.
It knows me, my job, knows my stories, our games, everything. Feels good. But it’s need to be maintained, changed, expanded and sharpened over time.
Yes the memory and chatgpt abilities to script writing are the reasons for anyone to choose chat gpt and consumers are really paying the 20 dollars or 200 dollars because of the feature and they said everything will work smooth once bug or backend issue gets fixed and they may or may not add this memory issue into status page since it is not affecting all users
They are maintaining probably wrong way and if it’s about expanding no actually i don’t think so actually they are restricting chatgpt an ai model this days and expanding may won’t happen future
I mean, before the issue started, I could store 9,000 characters including spaces in my memory. After the issue started, I could barely store 100.
Same, now i can store 64 words max
