It seems that many people are experiencing errors on ChatGPT’s saved memory function. My speculation is that because right now, there seems some error/outage on ChatGPT that’s been going on right now, and the OpenAI team are still monitoring it. For now, let’s just wait for the issue to be resolved from the team and then monitor it to see if the saved memory feature problem is still persisted.
Update: The other issue has been resolved. But the saved memory feature is still bugged. I don’t know if this was from user end or backend problem. I’m still contacting the OpenAI team to know about the problem.
The issue still persisted, even after I contact the OpenAI team repeatedly, but still no action from them to resolve it. It might be just me, or other people experienced the same thing? If you do, then I kindly asked you to report the issue as well. Because it really affect me so much because I can’t start on my project.
I have the same issue and it’s stressing me out. Currently, I’m working on an important project (diploma) and use CHAT–GPT to help me with some information. So, yesterday I decided to clear memory to update it. Done that before, so, I thought it would be nothing special. But no, it says “I memorized that!”, shows the “memory updated”, yet when I go to memory section — nothing is there. Absolutely nothing.
I have reformulated my request and CHAT-GPT has responded that the information I provided violates the OpenAI usage policy. I would like to understand where the information about the benefits of audiobooks in modern society constitutes content that is in violation of the policy regarding sexual overtones. This is a frustrating and upsetting situation, and I am unsure when this issue will be resolved.
Indeed, it’s become more frustrating knowing that we can’t report the issue directly. I mean, I’ve been monitoring the status of the OpenAI since yesterday and it said there’s nothing with saved memory feature… like, there’s definitely something wrong in front of my eyes. I’ve been trying to make the OpenAI team to notice this problem by contacting them at the FAQ site, marking down the responses as bad to give feedback. But nothing has changed. Just because many people wanted OpenAI to create new features instead of fixing bugs. It’s really frustrating.
I came on here to see if anyone else has this issue. Very frustrating as I use ChatGPT (paid user) for creative writing and use the memory tool to store character details, relationships, worldbuilding, etc. I’ve never had any issues adding paragraphs or even lists of them. Yesterday, I deleted a couple entries to edit something and add them back. I even used another account to double check because I’ve been working on this project for the last seven months, and all was fine. The instant I deleted them, it was like a switch was flipped and not two minutes later, I couldn’t add them back. Now it only accepts entries that are less than 50 words and contain no nuances at all. I’m really hoping this isn’t intentional and is a bug result or something of them rolling out the reference chat option to the UK.
Yes, yes! Same for me as well about writing a story with my characters on other account! That’s a small relief for me to know that I’m not alone in this problem.
I agree. I’ve already tried many troubleshoots. Such as checking if the toggles were on, check if I somehow used VPN on blocked countries of such feature (because I’m dumb enough to do that), changed into another accounts, used desktop and phone version, clear the cache, logged out and logged back in, and ended up by checking if my chrome is up to date or nah (which I’m also kind of dumb enough to never close my chrome so it’s updated in the background).
And the result, fellas? Still nothing. What a shame, really. My project got so delayed because of this.
Yep, the saved memory is working, but not in the same way as before. This might be the effect of the recent updates OpenAI implemented to ChatGPT. I tried to use the Pro and free tier account, but it’s really frustrating that I can only save information in under 50 characters. It sucks!
I did the same! Tried like four different accounts, phone and web, and nada. I can’t see how it would be intentional when they actively encourage using it for creative writing. Less than 50 words is INCREDIBLY restrictive. But also a little heartbroken if it is, because that’s what makes ChatGPT stand out. I’m glad I didn’t delete everything but it sucks, especially if they did it with no warning or anything.
It’s so stressful waking up and not knowing if something’s going to have changed in the background. I wouldn’t have deleted anything if I’d known they were going to change it and I’m sure that goes for a lot of people.
Same
God, I feel you, now I can’t continue writing anything
I cannot believe i had to add the information line by line just because of this new policy. i mean, i don’t mind it, but they can at least warn us first or something? it won’t hurt just to say in an announcement on twitter or something like, “yo, we decrease the saved information to under 50 characters per response.”
Wait, 50 only? Well, that’s a bad thing because I have PARAGRAPHS of information
I already experimented with many things right now. And I found out that it can save up to 250 words right now… But I don’t think that’s a good thing, lol. Because… well, let’s be real, we’re literally had over thousand of words worth for ChatGPT to save, which is still fine two days ago, but went south really fast yesterday.
Let’s just hope it’s temporary, my heart will absolutely break if it’s a “new feature”. I work on my diploma + writing an original story (for 5 months now).
Yeah, let’s just hope for the best right now. I hope the OpenAI team can work on it fast.
I don’t think these intentional, I have friends who don’t have a problem… These really a problem you have to go back and tell, I use for Role play and these too restrictive especially for the story of the characters!
This is what Chat GPT told me just now. Believe it or not, but I’m PRAYING for OpenAI team to fix this issue
50 words max you can do these all,… these hell
Please don’t tell that it’s permanent— Q_Q
