I’ve developed an app that includes a premium user system, where certain features are accessible only through payment. In this case, when using the GPT App SDK, how are such restrictions (e.g., distinguishing premium features or limiting access) applied or managed?
auth system, on the documentation they talk about auth (think how on the demo you had to sign in to “connect” to canvas) welp, if you have a paid account when you prompt the mcp server you only make available the paid resources

I’ve been looking into this as well and had a similar question.
Based on the current App Submission Guidelines, it appears that monetization for digital services (including subscriptions) is not supported at the moment, even if payment happens on an external site. The guidelines explicitly mention that “Selling digital products or services—including subscriptions, digital content, tokens, or credits—is not allowed, whether offered directly or indirectly (for example, through freemium upsells).”
Because of that, it’s unclear how premium feature restrictions would be handled within the Apps SDK today, since apps are expected to be fully functional without requiring payment. From what I can tell, there isn’t currently a supported mechanism for enforcing paid feature access inside ChatGPT apps.
