Something changed today - The model continuously defaults to auto, and ‘thinking’. I cant seem to select gpt 5 Pro and get the conversation to actually use pro as of today. Pretty annoying? Now it keeps giving me reports instead of usual gpt 5 pro output… Anyone else?
consequently, it’s thinking for excessive amounts of time, outputs are cooked, almost zero progress since this started..
Me too. I open a new session and select PRO mode, then automatically change to AUTO mode when the prompt is sent.
My Pro Completely disappeared. Its no longer an option for me.

This thread refers to the original GPT‑5 Pro model picker from October 2025. The available models and picker have changed since then, and GPT‑5 Pro was later retired from ChatGPT.
If the current Pro option is still switching to Auto after you send a message, please contact support@openai.com with the exact model label shown before and after sending, plus the platform and approximate time with timezone. Please keep account or workspace details out of the public thread.
