The tampermonkey workaround lets me log in and chat fairly well, thanks!
A side effect though is that I am seeing the word “fallback” in various places (e.g generated link text) which degrades usability a bit. The original issue really needs to be reported to OpenAI so they can apply a proper fix. (Unless they decide to no longer support this version of FF)
For those saying the tampermonkey is “not working”, could you post the console errors (like the OP did) or a more detailed description so we can maybe improve the workaround for you.
This updated version doesn’t display ‘fallback’ and instead uses the actual string provided as input. (Also edited to include the @run-at document-start)
It worked!
Maybe it’s not a problem after the script update but… If you see minimal UI on successful login after using script, try clearing cache/cookies, then open a new window and log in again. Worked for me.
This helped me perfectly. Thanks!
I have a concern, when I installed Tampermonkey, it asked for following permissions :
Access your data for all websites
Input data to the clipboard
Download files and read and modify the browser’s download history
Display notifications to you
Access browser tabs
Access browser activity during navigation
Is it safe to permit the extension to access all the data for all the websites, etc.?
Disabling the extension though, doesn’t help.
For those who had the script not working in Tampermonkey either factory reset your tampermonkey settings or export the settings to zip and in the Tampermonkey.global.json delete the property “webrequest_fixCSP” “webrequest_modHeaders”, then restore the backup
Even if the script does work, the manager has been proven to be malicious on two separate occasions by security experts and you could have easily researched it - it’s even on Wikipedia. Or has the advent of LLMs caused you to give up thought completely? How can you just trust a complete stranger to tell you to install stuff on your computer? Heck, some of the posts around here, even one on this very thread are by fake accounts who have only been online for 3 minutes — not even enough to read through.
You’ve always thought the Nigerian prince was ridiculous. You never considered we were laughing at you. All along, it was you.
The issue is, that openai changed its website to use “Intl.Segmenter” which is not supported by Firefox ESR 115.
“Intl.Sgementer” is a new features widely supported by current browsers. It’s part for Firefox since Version 125 but not implemented for FF 115 ESR.
Using a Tampermonkey script can implement a workaround for users on older browsers. Hence I’d recommend to upgrade to a newer version of Firefox. FF 128 will be the next ESR and supports Intl.Segmenter. Login to ChatGPT is possible!
Solution: Update to Firefox 128 ESR.
Download links are not supported here, so just Google for site:mozilla.org /pub/firefox/releases/128.2.0esr/
thank you for the suggestion, it is of course useful, however Debian users like me, who prefer using tested official packages will be forced to install a non official package or wait and hope for an update. Tampermonkey workaround while working, is not a proper solution either. I sorta expect for openai to ensure compatibility with whatever current browser is used on the market today.
So only solution is to jump to at least win10, bc chrome 72.0.3626.121 does the same.
You have to upgrade, and pay for it or go awai you 2nd category human.
What a dystopian joke.
