Hi community, I just want to ask if anyone had the same issues about the ChatGPT Search feature?
I joined the SearchGPT waiting list a few months ago and I got the email invite today saying I can use it now. But when I access chatgpt.com and still can’t see the search icon. I am using the free plan. Does it matter? Does it mean I have to be in a paid plan and at the same time in the waiting list?
Hi Jay, Thanks for your reply. I am seeing “waitlist closed” on that page, does that mean that I still do not have access? I am confused because I did joined the waiting list months ago and I also got the Email invite saying I can try now as you can see from the Email screenshots. But why I still don’t have access?
free user and same here! the icon was visible for couple of days after receiving the email but now it’s gone
looks like they did some course correction
I just wanted to report that today I tried to use the search feature to find a conversation which contained exactly ‘case study’ in it’s name on the left sidebar, yet searching for ‘case study’ found nothing.
You will note that this topic is about a different feature: “Get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources.”, and " February 5, 2025: ChatGPT search is now available to everyone in regions where ChatGPT is available. No signup required."
The search of past chats is likely powered by semantic search of “quick” quality, not keywords. I search for “you are a gpt”, and I get a top result for turning a JSON Assistants API call into a SDK API call.
