I’ve noticed that the icons on the GPTs chat interface are missing, and many of us—including myself—are truly saddened by this change. The icons added a friendly touch and made it easy to tell whether a message was from a user or from GPTs. Without them, it’s harder to identify the speaker. Could we please have the icons restored?
The reduced width-wasting is nice. I already optimized the wasting. The user message of my custom CSS used to align the user text directly over the GPT AI text:
What I would do: In a GPT response, there is no “regenerate” model selector button that could also show what model the response was generated with. So, not only repair that functionality, but stick the GPT name there to reveal “who” responded:
Also, the specialization response is vile: OpenAI still not respecting that the GPT Developer is the one that placed files.
Thank you for sharing your approach with custom CSS! It’s interesting to see how you’ve optimized the interface to reduce unnecessary width and improve layout.
However, for those who primarily use GPTs through the iPhone or Mac app, custom CSS is not an option. It would be great if the interface of the iPhone and Mac apps continues to improve for a better user experience.
I feel that displaying user and GPTs icons—similar to those in popular messenger apps—could make the chat interface more approachable and easier to navigate. Since many users access GPTs frequently on smartphones, having a visually welcoming interface with small but effective elements like icons might enhance usability and provide a better experience for a wide range of users.
