Advertising on Chat GPT Web Search?

Hello everyone,
a few days ago the “Web Search” feature was released inside Chat GPT, does anyone know if in the ecosystem it is possible to manage Advertisements in reference to user queries (e.g. Google Ads) and if there is the possibility of tracking conversions on the website?

Searching on Google I did not find anything about it on the official GPT results, only threads of people who want to sponsor their gpts from other platforms, but I think it is a feature that if available is very interesting for those like me who do Digital Advertising and have to promote websites or eCommerce.

I hope that someone more knowledgeable than me can give me feedback or even just insights to understand if and when this feature will be available.

Best regards
Matteo

Hi Eric GT,
thanks for the quickly reply, do you happen to know if there are any communications that pre-announce features of this type in the future?

The best place I would check is the OpenAI blog.

https://openai.com/news/

As it so happens OpenAI Dev Day is happening this week in London, thus some of the more newsworthy postings.

Isn’t a main reason people want to abandon Google search because of the ad pollution? And now here we are 1 day in to the Open AI search being available and we want to instantly pollute those results with ads. Super cool.

Thanks so much for the link EricGT

Hi scharleswatson,
Personally, in the last period i find paid ads more relevant than organic results on Google, as organic ones often do not answer my questions, sometimes even ads and for this i use Chat GPT.

Everyone has their own vision, no one wants to pollute any ecosystem, but testing the effectiveness of these solutions in the advertising field, moreover, i believe that if integrated it could be a significant source of income for OpenAI, but it seems only the future will answer my question.

Best regards

nah man, paid ads always try to sell me something, I’d risk saying 99% of people have to skip past the ads to get what they want… also, everyone I’ve met hate youtube ads, so much so that they are willing to pay to not have to see 5 ads before a video plays…

Hi _thiago,
Of course, nobody pays for anything, i agree on YouTube’s side, I think it’s the most invasive advertising format

Who abandone Google Search? Do you have number? I believe in data… Returne to the real world…

I believe ChatGPT as a search engine is undoubtedly the future.

In my case:
My company offers sophisticated, custom-made parts made of advanced ceramics.
For us, it’s incredibly challenging to determine where our potential customers are because there’s no clear pattern or similarity within our existing customer base. Customers often approach us from industries or regions we would never have imagined needing our services.

As a result, the only option we currently have is to guess what customers might type into Google and use those guesses as keywords. However, this approach is highly inefficient and imprecise. In doing so, we inadvertently contribute to “ad pollution.” The problem is exacerbated by other companies employing the same method. The larger the company, the broader and more unfocused their ads become. This leads to a significant overlap of ads, where companies even compete for the same online users, despite offering entirely different services or products with no real overlap in customer needs.

From the user’s perspective, most ads appear irrelevant, wasting both time and resources on both sides.

Now imagine this:
You describe to GPT the strengths of your company, the type of customers you want to attract, and the kind of requests you’re looking for. GPT collects this information, and you pay for it.
On the other side, a user shares their specific requirements for a part or service with GPT.
GPT then matches the customer’s needs with the most suitable company that can fulfill them.

Wouldn’t that be incredible?
You can’t imagine how desperate some customers are when they need a highly specialized part or service (like advanced ceramics, in our case). They waste so much time browsing irrelevant websites, making unproductive calls, and sending emails to companies that can’t help them.

With GPT acting as a bridge, this process could be seamless and efficient, saving time, money, and frustration for everyone involved.

try using search, it already does this with the search the web feature. unpaid, and probably based on bing indexing

I just got what appears to be advertising in a chat I was having about problems upgrading to windows 24H2:

I think it’s related content, albeit off topic, that he fished out and provided as a source, it doesn’t look like an ad to me. I could be wrong, but it doesn’t seem to me that there are any features to make announcements within the platform yet :frowning:
