I’ve used ChatGPT daily for months as a fiction writer, 14+ hours a day. The removal of memory for free users makes it impossible for me to write here anymore. I feel like I’ve lost a creative partner. Please reconsider opening memory or offering creative features to free users too. It’s about passion, not profit

I totally get where you’re coming from—losing memory feels like losing a creative partner, especially when you’re working on long-term fiction. But just so you know: if you decide to upgrade to Plus, memory functionality comes back. Nothing’s been deleted unless you manually cleared it.
For $20/month, you’re basically getting an AI writing partner who actually remembers your characters, themes, plot arcs—and even the jokes you made in Chapter 2.
If it’s helping you write 14+ hours a day… then it’s probably worth the price of two coffees a week. Passion’s great—but it’s okay to invest in the tools that fuel it.

I’d also add that having Plus gives you more deep research, which is probably useful in your profession (assuming you’re a writer).
These days I treat ChatGPT as a first stop before using a dedicated search engine simply because you can tailor the request and summarise the response, rather than find information that circles the topic you’re interested in, missing detail or wasting time to find it’s not what you wanted.
It’s worth the $20 for this alone.
