Request
I would like to see either a plan between ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Pro that focuses on increasing the weekly usage allowance, or a way for Plus users to purchase additional weekly usage.
My Usage
I am a science and engineering student, but I do not major in computer science or informatics.
I normally use Sol on ChatGPT Plus with the highest available reasoning effort. Before I started developing an application, I had no major problems with the available models, features, or usage limits, and I intend to continue using Plus.
Recently, I started developing a personal application. My current setup is as follows:
-
ChatGPT Plus
-
Windows browser version
-
Sol with the highest available reasoning effort. When I restrict the model or reasoning effort, I tend to encounter issues such as premature conclusions or misunderstandings. In a long-term development project, this can actually slow down progress rather than save usage.
-
Within the Project, I keep only one active Work Thread at a time so that the chronological flow of development does not become too complicated. Once I have completed a handoff to a new Work Thread, I archive the old one.
-
I keep multiple
.txtfiles in the Project sources containing information such as the development plan and development environment. I have ChatGPT generate and update these files when necessary. -
The application I am developing is a local Python application for batch analysis of local CSV files. It currently consists of multiple
.pyfiles, some of which are several thousand lines long.
Problem
-
I often reach the 5-hour usage limit after about two hours of concentrated work. However, this does not have a major impact on overall development progress because I can spend the remaining time on other tasks.
-
The weekly usage limit is much more disruptive. I can use up the weekly allowance within two or three days, which can then prevent me from doing substantial development work for the next four or five days.
-
I have reached the weekly limit several times. Until now, I was able to continue working by using the full usage resets that had been distributed, but I have now used up my remaining resets.
-
Because of this, I considered upgrading to ChatGPT Pro.
-
However, Pro provides roughly five times the usage allowance while also costing roughly five times as much.
-
I do not currently need the additional Pro-specific features.
Because of this, I feel there is a large gap between Plus and Pro for users who need more weekly usage than Plus provides, but do not need the much larger usage allowance or additional features included with Pro.
Suggestions
I think options such as the following would make ChatGPT much easier to use for this type of workload:
-
An intermediate plan based on the Plus feature set, with the main benefit being a higher weekly usage allowance.
-
A paid option that allows Plus users to purchase additional weekly usage when needed.
-
A paid option that allows Plus users to reset their weekly usage allowance when needed.
I am already satisfied with the models and core features available on Plus. I do not particularly need the additional features included with Pro.
If there were an option focused mainly on increasing the weekly usage allowance, I would be willing to pay an additional fee for it.
I suspect there may be other users like me who use ChatGPT intensively for long-running personal development projects, for whom the Plus weekly allowance is not quite enough, while Pro is more than they need.
