I’m scratching my head how OpenAI, knowing that GPTs would be very popular and therefore would increase load, could release this feature without appropriate load testing and scalability. A new service that has poor availability, as others have said, seems pretty useless. Development and testing is nearly impossible. What happens when users want to actually use what we build?

I now feel I am late to the game. When Chatgpt was all the rage about a year ago. So I started using it this last week and Dall E 3 is no longer free in anything. IE Bing Chat.
I signed up to the $20 subscription and went to work on learning to what Chat and I could do. Wow this is pretty cool I thought. Then, just TWO days later. You have used your Cap. WHAT?! There is a Cap? Thats not very well explained in the splash pages. Just hey look what chat can do! The splash pages suck in you in and then you discover Oh? There’s Limits now?
So I have to pay for Dall E 3’s mistakes? Yes the software is amazing. But it takes a lot of tries to get to what I am looking for. So I have to become a professional prompt writer now. And until I do, I shouldnt pay or waste my time. BUT Dall E 3 is only available now in ChatOpenAi paid format.
So I can use all my Cap time trying to get the image I want. No, Dall, you misspelled the Typography. No Dall, that looks horrible. No Dall I wanting the character standing up not laying flat.
So suddenly what was WOW SUPER COOL to oh, this is so great after all. After this month I will most likely drop the $20 fee and just play the coin game. I will use all the AI software out there and use up my free coin at each trying to get what I want. Then I am not paying for failures.

Exactly. Of course, people are going to gobble this up. I’d gladly pay a little more even for the ability to deploy my GPT as a website embed popup so people on my website can interact with my GPT publically without needing a ChatGPT or ChatGPT Plus account. It’s pretty useless otherwise.

it seems that when I am making or using GPTs that I made I hit my usage limits too quickly as well.

I’ve subscribed to Plus now since GPT-4 came out, and haven’t ever reached the limit before today (which, BTW, is presently 50 requests per 3 hour interval).
However, today I decided to use the new voice features to have a conversation about various topics while I was loading my dishwasher. So I asked it for things like news headlines over the past 24 hours, and then some background questions regarding those headlines, and then explored some theories of humor and had it construct a few jokes collaboratively with me, and so on. There were some long pauses between interactions during which I continued washing dishes, and it seems that the background sounds involved were interpreted as conversation, so I got a lot of superfluous responses–mostly “You’re welcome,” but also announcements that the system was too busy to take my request and so try again later, please.
After quite a number of these unnecessary “replies,” I was told that I had exhaused my usage cap.
So, anyway, OpenAI might want to look into preventing these superfluous replies. Doing so might also help to deal with the system overloads that GPT-4 has been experiencing lately.
In general, I’m inclined to be patient with problems like these since this tech is so new, and, you know, growing pains. You just have to expect it for something so revolutionary and popular. But please, OpenAI, deal with it as soon as you can.

I’ve just hit the limit for the first time after having GPT-4 for two months. It’s currently set to 40 messages per 3 hour intervals. Why on earth would I pay 20 dollars for this? I find it ridiculous because it ruins productivity.

Okay. To Everyone, so with gpt 4 they have a rate limit of 50 prompt per 3 hrs. It’s written under the plan in small letters and lighter color. This was not there before gpt4 was in beta. So even tho you pay $ 20 pm. It doesn’t matter.
You can still use 3.5 for free. If you ask me 3.5 is better than 4. So with 20 dollars you will be paying only for DallE and web browsing.
As far as rate limit is concerned i started using 3.5 for conversation and only dallE whenever is needed. Rate limiting issue is reduced but still i see constant failures and frustrating errors.
I also saw that they have halted the plus subscription for new users as well.
Probably new plan will be in place soon. With more costly options.

U can use agents. Given the state of gpts are unpredictable.
I got hit with the usage cap message after 25 messages. Each time I talk to Chat-GPT it counts as a message regardless what it is.
I don’t like 3.5, so if it’s critical, I’d just head over to claude or bard if I really needed to.

So i just noticed. The cap has been changed from 50 to 40 without any notice. Or info. I am currently started using 3.5. And probably if this continues its better we start using 3.5 for prompts and replace dallE with midjourney subscriptions

This usage cap thing started to get really annoying, give us an indicator so we can adjust… tbh I am thinking about cancelling my subscription, there are better alternatives that use gpt 4 API and actually worth the money.

Previously, the limit was 50 requests every 3 hours. This was very frustrating, but still clear.
Now even 10 requests an hour is difficult, and yet transparency is stripped away with the excuse of “dynamic fluctuations”.
I do not know how many requests are acceptable.
I consider this not a decent situation to say the least.
The interests of the users have been more compromised since the beta ended than they were during the beta.

Blocked after 25 interactions. Absolutely am going to have to change my timeline, blow past deadlines, etc. This is brutal.

I used it for 30 minutes, with maybe 15-20 interactions, and now I’m blocked for the next 2 hours… this is not reliable

Pro subscription and I am also getting this. You’ve reached the current usage cap for GPT-4, please try again after 10:06 AM… I use this for just fun to help create content ideas for games I play with my kids and this is the first time this has ever come up.
The main question is : Whay are we even paying ?
Responses have became very very slow and now we have a cap !!! Thats ridiculous !

here we go again today cap usage, They got Log files they need to start compensating some extra time for people that have to go through this…
And if this is the turbo version that was also misleading.
