Wrong analysis/reading of PDF document

Hi, I have been using GPT 4 to summarize my college notes from last few months by uploading PDF files to GPT 4 but, since last few days GPT 4 is not able to correctly analyse or read the document. instead it throughs completely random responses by completely ignoring the content of the uploaded document and the command. The responses that it is giving is from the old PDF’s that I uploaded when it was working fine that too in different chat. Strange!
Is there any update or maintainence going on?

Hi!

Are you using ChatGPT, the Assistants API, or perhaps a completely different service?

Please note that files uploaded to ChatGPT are deleted after a short period, so it’s not possible to receive replies based on that information afterward. If you’re using the Assistants API, there could be several reasons why this is happening. We need you to provide more information first.

I’m using ChatGPT-4.0 from two different accounts for this purpose, and this issue occurred in chats on both accounts. It seemed like the model had reached a saturation point and was unable to process any new files further. After deleting all my chats and trying again, it started giving responses according to the document uploaded. I made another account, and it provided correct responses there.

I am having the same problem (also chatgpt). I gave it a recent literature overview about prompting techniques and it made up some random stuff (or summarized a different document, one that I am not aware of).

second and third try were no better.

the third try is actually a bit scary, because that is about a conference paper I wrote a few weeks ago. I must have uploaded it to ChatGPT to chat about it back then.

This makes me think the nonsense it spits out are not hallucinations but summaries of other documents and since all the summaties except for one were about documents and topics unknown to me, I assume that these are documents from other users‘ repositories. Which leads me to assume that other people are getting summaries of my documents. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Somehow looks like there is a faulty offset in the pointers to the memory address that it‘s supposed to read.

How long is that short period? Because if that summary of my own (unoublished) paper is not from my own uploads, then I don’t know where it got it from.

Same problem here! Very strange

now see this image, I simply asked for the topic of the unit. It reponds with “Introduction to Human Resource Management” but the topic of the unit is Introduction to Statics. This happened even after deleting all my chat history and the topic it responded with was uploaded I assume a month ago.
