I don’t understand why it is not possible to natively use the microphone to write text in ChatGPT chat in the win or mac browser (even in the paid version), whereas this is possible in the related Android or iOS app.
This would greatly reduce the writing time.
And as there is no native functionality one is forced to use third-party extensions that are very risky for privacy and security.
It seems to me an absolutely basic function and it is really strange that it has not yet been released.
You can click on the F5 button on your MacBook keyboard and just say what you want and it’ll type it for you. I did the same thing for this text as well.
The thing is that OpenAI’s mic uses AI as well and not like a traditional one. It accuretely catches the words well with decent accuracy unlike any other MIC input softwere even window’s
That is a good question, EstebanMax. I would also like to know why it isn’t possible to use the microphone to dictate text within the browser. At present, I have to go back and forth between the browser and the app when I want to enter a stream-of-consciousness-type prompt. On that note, you can download the app (at least you can for Mac), dictate your text, then go back to the browser and refresh. It will populate across platforms. It’s cumbersome, but it works.
Yes same here, it is very strange but nobody seems to be explaining if it is a problem on user side or it is simply disabled for browser…?
Also frustrated by this. I can talk to GPT on my phone but I can’t so it’s harder to use on the desktop where I’m doing most of my actual work??
For me talking works in Chromium browser. Not in Firefox though.
In various GPTs eg SOAP notes, I would need the microphone and not the Voice mode. Please bring back the microphone for the Desktop app and browser!
So, still no solution on this? I find it odd that you can’t use a microphone with the web-based version of ChatGPT. Why does the software even have a voice option button present if you can’t use it? With the popularity of ChatGPT, it seems strange that you can’t use your microphone with a mac and the web-based version. Anyone?
