I have been a Tier 5 for a long time now, but I don’t have access to the full O1 yet. Only to the mini. Although the mini is also really good, the full O1 is just another league. I have already hit limits on all of 3 my chatgpt accounts and would very much appreciate if someone sheds more light on how to get full O1 API access. Is there something else I need to do to get access to O1, except being Tier 5 ?
There’s no logic to how they are rolling out O1 for API users - we’re also Tier 5 users and still no O1-access through the API while some Tier 4 users have already gotten access.
My guess is that it’s per region so US-based users get it first while users in the EU get it at a later date.
Hi, I have an account with Tier 5 Access but still can not access the o1 full model. o1 does not show in playground, only o1-mini and o1-preview. Its been like 2 weeks since its announced that o1 is released for tier 5 users, yet still can not access it. Can somebody help?
yeah it kinda seems the rollout has been paused… like there was an initial batch of access granted the day of the announcement, but since then no other (or very few) Tier 5 users have reported receiving access…
just to add to the chorus of frustration… i’m also Tier 5 and would appreciate some kind of update from oai to clarify when I might reasonably to expect to get access, rather than crickets (or just “wait” / “over weeks”…)
If the rollout will be slower than originally planned / announced, just tell us please
I am pretty disappointed with how this has been handled by OpenAI. The video I watched live on YouTube said, “Today we are launching them in o1 in the API,” but there was no mention of it being a phased rollout. I did not see the X message until today and was not even aware of it. Communication like this should be consistent – the video should align with the wording in the X post to ensure everyone is properly informed.
We spent around $900 USD a couple of weeks ago to access o1. Since the credit expires after a year and we are unlikely to use it all, we are effectively losing money for the weeks we cannot access o1.
I have also noticed a lot of frustration on the forums about this.
Additionally, I do not understand why the credit expires after a year. If an account has been dormant for a year, that might make more sense, but expiring credit otherwise means OpenAI is effectively taking consumers’ money without providing the service when all the credit is not used before expiry. How does that make sense or seem fair?
It seems reasonable that anyone who purchased credit to reach tier 5 after the live December announcement should receive an extension on their credit expiry. This would help ensure everyone is not disadvantaged by the delay.
This situation is frustrating, and I hope this feedback is taken on board. @edwinarbus
tier 5 should mean tier 5. why take so long. it’s purely a business decision. They want people to subscribe to the $200 subscription and not pay for the API. They can easily roll it out. They just don’t do it.
