Bug Report: Unable to Delete Chat in ChatGPT

Browser/OS: Chrome/Window

Issue:

Attempting to delete a chat does not remove it from the history.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open ChatGPT and navigate to chat history.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to a conversation.
  3. Select “Delete” and confirm.

Expected: Chat should be removed.

Actual: Chat remains in history.

Same. I’ve pressed the ‘delete’ button but it doesn’t work, like can’t be pressed… I thought I’m the only one experiencing this…
I hope this bug can be fixed as soon as possible.

Experiencing the same thing only through PC browser. Ive treid Firefox and Edge. ChatGPT through the Microsoft Store wont delete either. The mobile apps function to delete messages still works.

Same.
Though there is a keyboard shortcut “Ctrl + Shift + Backspace” as a plan B to delete a chat.
For other shortcuts, a help page could be displayed by “Ctrl + /”.

you can still delete message while this is happening, move what you want to delete to the archives, go to archives and press delete its works

Same issue faced . not able to delete single chat

Having the same issue , archiving the chat and then delete works but that is not how it should be done we all know hover over the 3 dots and delete but that aint working…

Workaround

1st: Archive the Chat
2nd: Refresh the page

If archiving worked, head to the settings, open your archive and delete the chats there.

This will have to do by now while waiting for the delete button fix.

I delete chats through the android app and it works. That’s my way around for now

I don’t see any requests sent after hitting the delete button. Someone made a mistake lol I guess.

Refreshing the page doesn’t help at all

Hi, today I faced the same bug. The conversations are not deleted after pressing the delete button. Even after logging out and logging back in, it had no effect. Browser- Safari
Although you can delete a chat by archiving it and then deleting the archived conversations, the bug remains a bug—you should be able to delete the conversation directly without these unnecessary steps.

The same behavior.
I could delete chat only together with project folder.
Chat itself cannot be deleted

The chat remains in the history despite confirming the deletion.
I am encountering this issue consistently on the web version, while the deletion function works correctly on mobile. Has anyone else experienced this, or is there a known fix?
