Hi everyone,

As someone who is passionate about education and the potential of technology to enhance learning, I’ve been working on a project that I’m excited to share with you. It’s a plugin called “Tutory,” and its goal is to transform ChatGPT into a personal tutor that can assist you in learning a wide range of topics.

Around the world, people have varying levels of access to education. I’m fortunate to have grown up in North America, where educational opportunities are relatively accessible, but even here, there are many students who face challenges. Some lack confidence in their studies, while others may struggle to afford the cost of personal tutoring. These challenges are often magnified in regions where access to quality education is limited or unavailable. This is something I want to see change in the world, so I developed Tutory.

Tutory is designed to be an accessible and interactive learning tool that offers a personalized educational experience. Whether you’re a student seeking additional support, a professional looking to broaden your expertise, or an individual with a desire to learn something new, Tutory is here to help.

Here are some of the key features of Tutory:

  • Comprehensive Subject Coverage: Tutory provides support in a variety of subjects, including mathematics, science, history, and language arts. You can explore these topics at your own pace and engage in meaningful discussions that allow you to learn for yourself, and not just get the answers.

  • Tailored Learning Paths: Tutory is adaptable to your unique learning needs. It can assist you in reviewing challenging concepts, introduce you to new material and teach new topics to you that are tailored to your style of learning.

  • Session Continuity/Long-term memory: Tutory is designed to remember your previous interactions, allowing you to resume your learning sessions seamlessly. This feature ensures that your progress is preserved and you can build on your knowledge over time. Also, you can refer back to something that you chatted about previously without having to find the specific conversation thread

I’m also actively working on developing new features that will allow Tutory to be integrated into classroom settings. The goal is to create a virtual tutor to supplement classroom instruction, assist with homework, and provide additional learning resources.

I believe that Tutory has the potential to democratize access to education and contribute to lifelong learning for individuals from all walks of life. Because of this, I welcome any thoughts and suggestions you may have, regardless if you are technical or not.

For individuals who are not Plus subscribers, you can sign up for the waitlist for the Tutory web app here which will notify you when it’s ready. Additionally, you can drop a comment below with feedback or thoughts.

Thank you for your interest in Tutory, and I wish you all the best in your learning endeavors

I’m a beta user of Khanmigo, the AI GPT-4 powered chatbot touter from Khan Academy. The feature I have wanted the most while using Khanmigo is long term memory. Very cool to see that you have implemented long term memory. This could allow users to work on learning sessions over longer periods of time and practice effective learning strategies like spaced repetition and interleaving. I hope I get access to developer plugins soon so I can test Tutory.

Hi there! Please shoot me a DM and I’ll get you set up with access. I really appreciate the kind words.

Hi landongarrison,

I am also interested in exploring your plugin as well as building some myself, but i still don’t have access to GPT’s plugins.

Hello Landon,

I am absolutely thrilled to learn about your Tutory project! As an educator myself, I wholeheartedly believe in the power of leveraging technology to enhance learning experiences. Your plugin genuinely sounds fantastic, and I am confident that it has the potential to make a significant impact in the field of education.

I am currently working on developing a plugin for university researchers in the humanities, and I am eager to begin once I gain access. I would be delighted to provide you with feedback on Tutory once OpenAI grants me access to your plugin. I truly appreciate the vision and dedication behind your work, and I encourage you to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the realm of education.

Best regards,
Villaseque Joris

Hi Landon,

I’m excited about Tutory and its potential to democratize education by providing personalized AI tutoring. As a tutor, I believe it could revolutionize how we track students’ progress and offer them targeted support.

I would love to participate in the pre-review or be added to the waitlist if spots are full. I’m eager to explore Tutory’s impact on my tutoring sessions and contribute feedback for its development.

Thanks for creating such an innovative tool!

Thank you for the kind words!

Hey Landon,

That looks like some exciting stuff!

I actively use ChatGPT to help myself with learning quite often as some of my professors are sub-par, and this’d definitely give a good spin on that.

Would love to chat on the technology more and provide some feedback as seen by a student if need be!

Hi Sean,

Thank you for the kind words. Tutory is now on the official plugin store! If you are able to access community plugins (I’m not sure what OpenAI has allowed at this point), you are absolutely welcome to give it a try.

Hey Landon,

Have you considered the possibility of integrating Tutory with an LMS like Canvas in the future? This could make the learning process more visible and organized. I’m deeply passionate about the potential of AI in education and self-improvement. Your plugin has truly impressed me and opened a new door to highly interactive learning. If you’re open to it, I would be delighted to provide feedback and suggestions on its promising features. I believe it has immense potential in the realm of education and learning.

Hi Mozart,

I have considered it. The issue with a lot of LMS systems I have found is they use a lot of old tech stacks surprisingly (not all but most of the ones I have seen).

Right now, I am actually focused on building a web app for Tutory, which I believe will be more beneficial in the short term. I plan to make this app available almost everywhere in the world, as I want as many people as possible to have access to this.

I would absolutely love feedback and I am DM’ing with many individuals on this forum. Please feel free to shoot me one anytime and I’d love to spark up a chat

Thank you for the support as always!

I agree with you. Not every idea should be implemented as a plugin. Here’s why.

lemme know if you need any web app help friend. been using gpt 4 as a tutor for a while now and have loved it. Would love to see this go farther as it helps me a lot.

Hi Lando.

Just tested the plugin, it works awesome. I am a PhD candidate and a professor and a private college and I am actively maintaining our custom LMS. Also, I am utilzing ChatGPT on my classes and encouraging students to use it. I have already released on platform for personalized learning. I am now collecting and analyzing the data that student’s generated while using it and I am really thrilled to see how it goes.

It would be a pleasure to have a discussion with you on your sight of language models and education and we can even talk some collaboration possibilities. Please DM me, as occasionally I, as a new user on the community forum, am not able to DM other users.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot! Stay tuned for more.

Hi there! Thank you for the support and I’d be happy to chat over DM!

Hey @landongarrison. Send me a DM as well.

Like you I also want to change the Healthcare Landscape that currently exists, and I am making my own product with ChatGPT. I liked your idea of doing a slow reveal of what your application can do. If you need technical help in development, Let me know.

David.

Will do that, please give me some time @DavidOS366 as I am trying to keep up with traffic demand / make progress on this web app. Would love to have a chat sometime!
